We are a diverse group of curious, enthusiastic researchers at the University of Iowa, where we study how the brain, spinal cord, and muscles interact to control movement.
We are particularly interested in developing new real-time rehabilitation interventions that promote hand motor recovery in individuals with stroke-related hand movement problems.
To achieve this, we perform highly multimodal research studies that combine brain and nerve stimulation, brain and muscle activity recordings, and movement assessments in people with and without stroke-related movement problems.
As a group, we enjoy tackling difficult research and clinical problems in innovative ways, all with the goal of improving quality of life for stroke survivors.
